History

The term “downeast” originates from trips up the Maine coastline which are far more about going east than north. A downeast boat is typically a semi-displacement hull with a narrow entry, which eases back to a soft chine. The Downeast hulls do not pound and are well noted for their comfort in a seaway. Lobster yachts, picnic boats and this fine Legacy yacht by Designer Mark Ellis offer beautifully hand crafted interiors with a stable ride.

The current Ponemah has replaced the original -a 1938 38 ‘ Elco owned by Bruce and Betsy.
